5 to 21





Clover Club Cocktail 

Ingredients
-Juice of 1/2 lemon or lime
-1/3 grenadine (1 part)
-2/3 dry gin (2 parts)
-1 egg white


Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker along with ice. Shake well and strain into glass.
"Two quick notes on the use of raw eggs in cocktails: 1) There's nothing to worry about as long as you use fresh eggs from a reliable source. I used fresh organic brown eggs. 2) When using egg whites in cocktail recipes, I prefer to do a dry shake (shake egg white by itself) first for 30 seconds to 1 minute in order to really froth the white, before adding the remaining ingredients and shaking again."

Ahh...less than a week till, I turn 21...I still haven't decided what my first legal drink should be!...any input is much appreciated

Here is a classic
Sex on the Beach

Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Peach Schnapps
- 1.5 oz Vodka
- 2 oz Cranberry juice
- 2 oz Pineapple juice
- 2 oz Orange juice

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass filled with ice.

Ingredients
- 1 scoop vanilla bean ice-cream
- 1 14.9 oz can guinness
- Draught beer
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Dash nutmeg

Place the ice cream in a large soda-fountain glass. Fill the glass with the beer. Top with a swirl of whipped cream and the nutmeg.

swimingly

It's almost swimsuit season [AAHHH!] and I need to buy a new bathing suit. I was reading the latest edition of "Real Simple" and this bathing suit was featured in it, isn't it a beauty!? It is so hard to find such pretty one-piece bathing suites. I and thinking that maybe people are beginning to go back to wearing one-piece bathing suits. This bathing suit would either make my hips look huge, or it could be extremely flattering with the scrunching on the sides.

The company that designed this swimsuit Malia Mills has a lot of really beautiful swim wear. I think it is definitely worth checking out! The one down side to this whole thing is that it is $395 dollars and I cannot afford to buy a bathing suit that is that much money :(

Maybe sometime when I am out of school and have a steady job, I will be able to buy it!

Ingredients

-1 oz vodka

-1/2 oz Blue Curacao

-1/2 oz Peach Schnapps

-3 0z sprite

-3 oz orange juice

-ice

Mix alcohols and juices together with ice in your serving glass.  Stir to chill.  Garnish with a decorative slice of orange.

Mango Slush
Ingredients:
- 2 oz bourbon (or rye whiskey)
- 1/4 oz sweet vermouth
- 3 dashes of bitters
Garnish: maraschino cherry


Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with cherry.

The Country Bumpkin

Ingredients- 
- 2 shots gin
-1/2  a lime 
- 4 fresh blackberries
-1/4 shot sugar syrup
-2 dashes peach bitters

Muddle blackberries and lime in the bottom of an old-fashioned glass. Add other ingredients and stir well with ice. Garnish with blackberries and raspberries.

Island Blossom 

Ingredients
-pre-marinate fresh fruit pieces with lime juices and malibu passion fruit rum
-1 part pomegranate juice
-1/4 part simple syrup
-1/2 soho leyhcee liqueur
-2 parts tezon blanco tequila 

Mix juices, tequila, simple syrup and lychee liqueur with pre-marinated fruit in a mixing glass. serve over ice.

soft sink

what do you think about this sink? I guess that it is made out of a silicon kind of material. I think that it seems pretty cool, although I don't quite understand the pro to having a soft sink rather than a traditional one.

This is from a company in Amsterdam, Droog...they have a lot a interesting and cool products but a few that I couldn't really understand how useful they would be for example check out this interesting bath mat

A few weeks ago Perez Hilton posted the video below. It is so cute and really fun! I wish I had been there to see it, or better yet been able to be part of it. It kind of reminds me of the happenings of the 1970's. I love it when people stir up the ordinary.

Today's drink is called the aviator, I am not so sure about it because i have never liked the taste of gin. I'm posting mostly because I am so curious About this creme de Violette, It is made from the petals of violets, I think i would like it because i really love rose flavored drinks. If any of you try it let me know how it tastes!

Aviation: 


Ingredients
-2 shots gin
- 1/2 shot lemon juice
-1/2 shot maraschino
- 1/6 shot creme de Violette

Shake well with ice and fine strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry

Belated

It's been a few days, since I've posted. I've been so busy, this weekend I went home and had an internship interview at
Alexander Isley  It's a really great small design company about 30 minutes away from my home. 

I also finished my stamp collection, which I will probably put up on the next post, I worked really hard on them and I think that they came out really nicely.

BUT THE REAL REASON I AM POSTING NOW!! *drum roll please*
Today marks the day when  in 21 days I will turn 21!! I will post one fun drink everyday until May 5Th [my 21st]


Blackberry Martini

Ingredients
-1 pt chilled blackberry sauce
-1 pt vodka
-ice

Put into a shaker with ice & shake well. Strain into a martini glass...finito!

Blackberry Sauce- 

Ingredients
- 1/2 lb blackberry
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup sugar

Heat all those ingredients in a saucepan on medium-heat. Mash the berries in a wooden spoon to release all the juice. Stir for about 10-15 minutes [or until all the sugar is dissolved]. Strain mixture into fine sieve, as to get all the seeds out.

Going Postal

For my Visual Systems class we are designing postal stamps, dealing the theme of Mathematica. in my research I have come across so many beautiful examples of stamps. Stamps in the Netherlands are designed at the highest level.

The United states has increased it stamps price 13 times in 32 years and in May they are going to be adding 2 more cents so it will be 44 cents. It seems like a good time to invest in forever stamps.

High Wire Act


I can't wait for summer...I am not sure what I am doing yet with my summer but I know what ever it is and where ever I end up interning it will be great! I just love the fun laid back style summer brings out in people. 
These chairs from Anthropologie are so whimsical, I can imagine them at a house on Fire Island. sitting in them on a warm, breezy day sipping lemonade.

The package design is no elegant and so simple. It feels very fitting for something that is home-made and organic. I can assume that the jam is just as yummy as the packaging!

'Beards are the New Black'



The design firm Office, located in San Fransisco is doing some really awesome design work. Recently they have been getting a lot of press for the redesign they did for 826 Valencia, an organization that is, "dedicated to supporting their students aged 6-18 with their writing skills, and to helping teachers get their students excited about literary arts" 

826 owns a store, that sells pirate themed items, the store was created to make money to support their non-profit organization. I love the playful nature of the venture! They own another store in Brooklyn that is all about Super-heros. 

I really appreciate it when design agencies, like 'Office' use their talents to help companies that are doing good for the world. Below are some examples of the work they have done in the re-branding.
 


Je T'aime Macarons...



A few years ago I visited Paris and I had the luck to stop by the most amazing pastry shop in the world; Lauduree. I wish I could have one right now. It was then that I discovered the best pastry ever!

Le Macaron... a traditional french pastry that made of egg whites, almond powder, sugar. They are the most delicious desert anyone could ever imagine. 


Look at those inspiring colors! I plan on using these colors in a design of mine in the near future. I often use pictures I find for color inspiration, I have a file on my computer that is purely for color inspiration. This photo is definitely going into that folder.
